About me

My name is Jen and I am originally from Chicago but now live in Atlanta. I love traveling to new places and experiencing new things and currently have traveled to 37 states and 7 countries. My passion for traveling and planning vacations started many years ago when I was a child, perhaps hereditary (just kidding) from my now 103 year old Grandmother who has traveled the world and even wrote her own memoirs (10 huge volumes- all typed herself)!

From my earliest years I can remember my parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle sitting around a table at Christmas time planning our family vacation for the next summer. These trips were the best not only because I was with my family but they were so carefully thought out down to the last detail. Ever since then I have loved making lists and reading books on things to do, places to see, and creating my own travel guide to follow while I am on vacation.

My planning went into overdrive when I backpacked through France and Spain on my own a few years ago and then to Italy with my Mom the following year. These were adventures of a lifetime I will never forget and ever since then I do this for every vacation I take. My travel companion is now my husband, who is amazing but has a completely different idea of what a vacation is.  He likes to relax and sleep in on vacations- what?!?!  So needless to say I have moved slightly away from my Type A- must cram everything into this vacation attitude into learning how to take some time to sit back, relax and take it all in.  So there is the art of compromise!

Needless to say, most of my Type A qualities remain- every trip we take I create a bunch of notes prior to the trip, during the trip and after the trip. I still like to have many options throughout the trip of where to eat and what to see, but I don’t lock us into seeing every one on my list anymore.  I do have a full time job, and limited vacation time so I try to make the most of my time off, don’t we all? As a pastime I have decided to start this blog to share the experiences I have had and hopefully help you plan your next trip. While not all my experiences or suggestions may help you or be what you are looking for, I hope to give you a few additional options and tips for your next adventure!

**I do not receive any form of payment from the businesses I reference or suggest on this blog.  My goal was to create an unbiased account of my experiences to help other travelers.
